Naked Bear Kakadu Plum Seed Oil
From the fruit with more vitamin C than anything else on earth. Kakadu Plum Seed Oil is cold-pressed from the seeds of Terminalia ferdinandiana, and it is pure kakadu plum seed oil — no carrier, no filler, no blend. What's in the bottle is what came off the press.
Kakadu plum — gubinge, billygoat plum, and a dozen names besides — grows wild across the savannas of northern Australia, and Aboriginal communities have eaten it and used it on skin for tens of thousands of years. The fruit holds up to a hundred times the vitamin C of an orange, the highest ever recorded in a fruit. The trees have resisted every attempt to farm them properly, so the harvest is still wild and still hand-picked.
WHAT IT'S LIKE
Pale gold and light-to-medium, with a soft, faintly woody smell. It absorbs cleanly and leaves skin looking fresher rather than shinier.
BEST FOR
Skin that looks tired, dull, or uneven in tone. Anyone who wants an Australian native oil rather than another vitamin C serum.
HOW TO USE
Two or three drops pressed into clean, slightly damp skin in the morning, under sunscreen or moisturizer. It layers happily over a water-based serum.
WHAT'S IN IT
Terminalia Ferdinandiana (Kakadu Plum) Seed Oil. That's the whole list.
Patch test before first use. Keep away from eyes. For external use only.
Northern Australia
Forty thousand years of use, no plantation yet.
Kakadu plum — gubinge, billygoat plum, and a dozen other names depending on whose country you're standing on — grows wild across the savannas of Australia's tropical north. Aboriginal communities have eaten it and used it on skin for tens of thousands of years. Every serious attempt to bring it into orchards has underperformed the bush, so the harvest is still wild, still hand-picked, and still seasonal.
Wild-harvested
Hand-picked across the savanna, because the trees have never taken to being farmed.
Pressed from the seed
Not a fruit extract, not an infusion. Cold-pressed from the stones and nothing else.
Light and clean
Absorbs without shine, and sits under sunscreen or makeup without pilling.
About the vitamin C
That part belongs to the fruit.
Kakadu plum holds the highest recorded vitamin C of any fruit on earth — up to around a hundred times an orange. You'll see that number on almost every kakadu product sold, including plenty of seed oils.
It isn't a claim we'll make for this bottle. Vitamin C is water-soluble and concentrated in the fruit flesh; this is a cold-pressed seed oil, so very little of it carries across. An oil that genuinely delivered ascorbic acid would say so with a percentage, not with a comparison to citrus.
What you're buying is a rare Australian native seed oil — light, linoleic-rich, wild-harvested, and hard to get. That's enough of a reason without borrowing the fruit's headline.
Not meaningfully. The vitamin C kakadu plum is famous for sits in the fruit flesh and is water-soluble; this is a cold-pressed seed oil, so barely any of it carries over. If you want vitamin C, you want a serum with a stated percentage, not an oil.
A genuinely rare Australian native seed oil. It's light, linoleic-rich, absorbs cleanly, and layers well under sunscreen — and almost nobody sells it, because the fruit can't be farmed at scale.
It's one of the Aboriginal names for the fruit, used in the Kimberley. Billygoat plum is another. Kakadu plum is the name that stuck commercially.
Yes. The trees have resisted cultivation, so the fruit is hand-picked from bush stands in the tropical north, on a seasonal cycle rather than a planting schedule.
Mostly face. It's light enough for daily use and works well in the morning under sunscreen. It's too expensive to be sensible as a body oil — Macadamia or Moringa are better value below the neck.
Very little. A soft, faintly woody note that fades in about a minute. Nothing is added.
Around 12 to 18 months sealed and 9 to 12 once opened. Linoleic-rich oils are less stable than oleic-rich ones, so keep this somewhere cool and dark rather than on a sunny shelf.
What's in it
One ingredient, undiluted — the same oil whether you buy it here or in the Australia Collection. A cold-pressed seed oil, not a fruit extract, and not a vitamin C product. Patch test before first use. Keep away from eyes. For external use only.
