The part of the yuzu nobody used to keep. Yuzu Seed Oil is cold-pressed from the seeds left behind when yuzu is juiced, and it is pure yuzu seed oil — no carrier, no filler, no blend. What's in the bottle is what came off the press.

Yuzu has been grown in Japan for more than a thousand years, and in Kochi — the prefecture that grows most of it — the seeds were a byproduct for most of that time. Pressed, they give a light, linoleic-rich oil carrying limonoids from the seed. One thing worth saying plainly: this is the seed oil, not the bright citrus essential oil from the peel. It smells faintly of almost nothing, and it won't make your skin sun-sensitive the way a cold-pressed citrus peel oil can.

WHAT IT'S LIKE
Pale gold and light, with a very faint green scent and none of the citrus sharpness people expect. It sinks in fast and leaves skin smooth, not slick.

BEST FOR
Combination skin, dull skin, and skin that feels rough or looks uneven. Good under moisturizer, good under makeup.

HOW TO USE
Two or three drops pressed into clean, slightly damp skin, morning or night. Light enough to use every day and to layer under anything else.

WHAT'S IN IT
Citrus Junos (Yuzu) Seed Oil. That's the whole list.

Patch test before first use. Keep away from eyes. For external use only.

Kochi, Japan

A fruit that lives in the calendar.

Yuzu has been grown in Japan for more than a thousand years, and Kochi prefecture on Shikoku grows most of it. It's a fruit people cook with, season with, and bathe in — on the winter solstice, whole yuzu float in hot baths across the country, a custom called yuzu-yu that's older than anyone can date. Almost none of that has anything to do with the seeds.

Seed, not peel

A pressed carrier oil, not the citrus essential oil. It won't make skin sun-sensitive.

Quiet on skin

Almost no scent and none of the citrus sharpness people brace for. Layers under anything.

Byproduct, not a crop

Pressed from what juicing leaves behind, rather than from fruit grown to be pressed.

What used to be waste

For centuries the seeds were the part you threw away.

Kochi juices yuzu at scale, and juicing leaves seeds — tonnes of them, every season, for as long as anyone has been doing it. For most of that history they went nowhere in particular. Pressing them for oil is recent.

Nothing in this bottle was grown to be pressed. That's true of our grapeseed too, and it's quietly our favourite kind of oil: the good one nobody was looking for, sitting inside something else entirely.

What's in it

Citrus Junos (Yuzu) Seed Oil.

One ingredient, undiluted — the same oil whether you buy it here or in the Japan Collection. Pressed from the seed, not expressed from the peel, so it carries no phototoxic citrus compounds. Patch test before first use. Keep away from eyes. For external use only.
